Summer Playground Program continues at Tyler parks

The Summer Playground Program for children, ages 6 to 12, is in full swing and continues through Aug. 16, according to a press release from the city. Participation is free for the summer programs at the city parks and there is a $40 charge to participate in the program at the Glass Recreation Center, according to the city.
This program includes food, sports, arts and crafts, games, special events, contests and more. Established in the 1950s, thousands of Tyler children have participated in this fun-filled summer event, which is offered in the following locations:
City Park:
From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. City Park is at West Queen Street and North Broadway Avenue. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Emmett Scott Park:
9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emmett Scott Park is at 1710 N. Confederate St. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
P.T. Cole Park:
From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. P.T. Cole Park is at 1001 S. Vine Ave. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Pollard Park:
From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no limit to the number of children allowed to attend. Pollard Park is at 810 S. Amherst Dr. Lunch is provided.
Glass Recreation Center:
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Participation at Glass is restricted to 80 children. Registration began May 1 and will last until all 80 slots are filled. The cost to participate in the Glass Summer Playground location is a one-time payment of $40. Glass Recreation Center is at 501 W. 32 St. Breakfast and lunch are provided at no cost.
