State powers All Saints and Dallas Parish Episcopal dominated the first day of the TAPPS 2-4A tennis tournament on Monday at All Saints’ Warmack Tennis Complex, with players from both schools combining to make up the entire boys semifinals and more than half of the girls semifinals.

The top four in each event will advance to state at Waco Regional Tennis Center April 24-25. Though the semifinals are set, the top four are not, with spots on the line as the tournament concludes today.

“There will be a lot of playbacks; everyone’s vying,” All Saints coach Andrea Booth said.

In girls doubles, Grace Community’s Caroline Rook/MacKenzie Cowart faces All Saints’ Luci Bates/Abbey Russell in an all-Tyler semifinal. The other match pits Lady Trojans Payton Leihgeber/Lauren Birtcher against Lady Panthers Shore/Jennings.

Three-time doubles state champions Nicholas Izzard and Eric Musselman of Parish Episcopal will be looking to keep their run going against the Trojans’ Joel Edgemon/Cadan Westmoreland. The other boys doubles semifinal features All Saints’ Tom DeBoer/Blake Bircher against Parish Episcopal’s Aggritelly/Plummer.
