WACO — Grace Community continued its march toward a TAPPS 2-4A title as the Cougars swept Waco Reicher in a Saturday twinbill.

Grace won 8-2 as the visiting team in Game 1 before picking up an 11-0 win in five innings as the home team in Game 2.

The Cougars (16-5, 10-1) have two games remaining, both at home. On Tuesday they host rival Bishop Gorman and they entertain Dallas Shelton next Saturday. A pair of wins against two of the teams in the bottom half of the standings would secure the TAPPS 2-4A championship for Grace.

Jacob Spitzer was the star on the mound and at the plate in the first game. The senior allowed one earned run in six innings and struck out five to pick up his third win of the year. He also drove in three runs and doubled.

Jacob Wadle earned his fourth save of the year and supplied two RBIs. Blake White went 3 for 3 with two runs scored, Jonny Spitzer scored three runs and Dylan Sumpter had two hits and two RBIs.
