HOUSTON — Houston Westbury Christian ended Grace Community’s season for the second straight year as the Wildcats earned a 93-46 home victory in the TAPPS 4A area playoffs on Friday.

Jimmy Negem went 9 for 11 from the free throw line and scored a game-high 29 to lead the Cougars (16-11), who will graduate eight seniors.

“The eight seniors that I have, every time they got minutes they played their hearts out and never gave up,” Grace coach Joe Crawford said. “Even the odds we had against us tonight, I can’t say enough about that group of kids. We had a great year.”

The Wildcats (25-3), who haven beaten Houston powerhouse Yates two years running, had six players in double figures, led by Delvin Dickerson with 17 points. Guard LJ Rose, a Baylor signee and top 75 recruit nationally, added 11 points.

“Westbury is very, very good,” Crawford said. “They shoot the ball well from outside, they drive and they finish and they are so fast. All of them, even the last guy on the bench, they’re just so fast.”
