LINDALE — The Lindale Eagles forced six Quinlan Ford turnovers to secure an undefeated District 14-3A title as they defeated the Panthers 56-10 at Eagle Stadium on Friday night.

The Eagles will now play Kaufman at Tyler’s Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Thursday.

Michael Stiles recovered a Panther fumble on the first play from scrimmage and on Lindale’s second play Trey Acy raced 10 yards for a 7-0 lead and the Eagles never looked back.

Lindale (9-1, 5-0) regained possession with 7:10 left in the first quarter and Clay Price found a streaking Josiah Johnson on a slant and he took it 71 yards to pay dirt and 14-0 advantage.

After another turnover recovered by Donte Marsh set the Eagles up on the Panthers 8 yard line, Price found Johnson for an 8-yard scoring pass. 

The Eagles only ran nine plays in the first quarter to score 28 points.

Lindale’s fourth scoring drive was capped off on a 3-yard run by Demarcus Lynch and scored moments later on a 6-yard run to put the Eagle advantage to 35-3 with 10:45 left before halftime.

Johnson added a 60-yard punt return for a score and Price connected with Jonathan Phillips with a 3-yard pass to end the Lindale’s first half scoring at 49-3.

The Eagles’ final score came when Andrew Crawley went up in the end zone over a Quinlan Ford defender to catch a 21-yard touchdown with 6:21 left to play from Cody Slice.

Quinlan Ford scored on a 23-yard James Silkey run in the third period and a Colten Baxter 24-yard field goal.

Acy and Colin Hester each recorded fumbles for the Eagles and Trenton SirLouis and Aaron Smith recorded interceptions for the Eagles.
