Edgewood beats Kerens in opener

EDGEWOOD — The Edgewood Bulldogs opened the season with a 23-6 win over Kerens on Friday.
The Bulldogs took a 7-0 halftime lead as Kevin Davis scored on a 5-yard run. Ethan Rumsey’s PAT was good.
The Bulldogs put up 10 points in the third quarter as Rumsey added a 20-yard field goal, while Tristan Sherwood scored on a seven-yard run. Rumsey added the extra point.
Edgewood made it 23-0 as Jacob Sharff hauled in a 25-yard TD pass from Ethan Rutter. The point-after attempt was blocked by Nate Betts.
Kerens got on the scoreboard as Shelton Sayles hit Paul Williams for a 17-yard TD pass. The try for two failed.
