The summer time ridge of high pressure is more directly overhead in East Texas, shutting down most rain chances for the area today and driving temperatures higher into the mid- 90s during the afternoon. Winds will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The high is expected to weaken some Friday and over the weekend. A minor disturbance around the edge of the high will bring a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Red River and Northeast Texas Friday and Saturday.
