UT TYLER 83, HOWARD PAYNE 70

UT Tyler's Johnell Lane missed his first five 3-point attempts, but caught fire late by hitting three in a row to help lead the Patriots to an 83-70 win over Howard Payne on Thursday at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Lane finished the game with a teamhigh 20 points and also added 11 rebounds for his first career double-double, while Emeka Obukwelu recorded his sixth double-double of the season after going for 14 points and 11 rebounds. Melvin Anthony was one rebound away from a double-double after he had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Patriots, who finished the game with 48 rebounds. Skyler Hadden added 12 points and Josh Tatum 11.

UT Tyler will return to action at 4 p.m. Saturday against Sul Ross in Alpine to complete the West Texas road trip.

WOMEN

HOWARD PAYNE 70, UT TYLER 48

The UT Tyler women's basketball team fell 70-48 to Howard Payne on Thursday in an American Southwest Conference game at the Brownwood Coliseum after committing 23 turnovers and shooting 3-for-12 on 3-pointers.

Carissa Spiker led the Patriots with 13 points, while Alex Kochner added 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.

UT Tyler will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Sul Ross in Alpine to complete the West Texas road trip.
