Flint woman killed in 2-vehicle crash

Olivia Brown Drew, a 56-year-old Flint woman, died after a two-vehicle crash around 4:30 p.m. Saturday about a mile north of Tyler.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a preliminary crash investigation showed that Drew was heading south on State Highway 110.

Her vehicle then left the roadway, drove through a fence and traveled several hundred yards through private property, where it hit a Camaro parked next to a home on County Road 46, according to the DPS.

Drew was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to a forensic center for an autopsy, the DPS said. The crash is under investigation.

Man killed in crash on Grande Avenue

A 69-year-old man was killed in a mid-morning crash on Grande Avenue in Tyler on Sunday after losing control and striking a vehicle on a curve.

According to the Tyler Police Department, a 1997 Corvette driven by Rodney Dean Kolac, 69, of Tyler, was eastbound in the 1500 block of West Grande on Sunday morning when he driver lost control in the s-curve and struck another vehicle.

The Corvette swerved into the westbound lanes, striking a 1999 Ford 150 occupied by one driver, police said. The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. Kolac died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Accident investigators responded to the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Smith County Commissioners to consider website upgrades

The Smith County Commissioners Court will authorize website upgrades at its meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The court is scheduled to approve additional work on its website by Vision Technology Services LLC, a company based in El Segundo, California that has been developing a new website for the county.

The court has not warned any other specific items of business for the Tuesday meeting. However, Smith County Engineer Frank Davis is expected to update the court on the $39.5 million road improvement bond that voters approved in November.

The meeting is in the Smith County Courthouse Annex Building, 200 E. Ferguson St.
