Whitehouse High School junior catcher/pitcher Peyton Conser has selected to play in the 2013 Under Armour All-American Pre-Season Baseball Tournament this weekend in Tucson, Ariz.

The tournament begins Friday and continues through Sunday. He is joining fellow East Texan Beaux Guilbeau, a senior catcher and first baseman for the Carthage Bulldogs.

Conser, a 6-0, 170-pounder, and Guilbeau, 6-0, 208-pounder, were selected as All-Americans based on a strong performance at a previous Baseball Factory Event or recommendation by a pro scout.

Conser has been a Little League All-Star and has played for select baseball teams.

The tournament, hosted by Baseball Factory since 1999, showcases the nation’s best talent in a three-day event at Kino Sports Complex, the former Spring Training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox.

This year’s event will feature over 350 of the top high school baseball players in the country in a wood bat tournament. Roger Clemens’ sons, Kody (second baseman, center fielder) and Kacy (first baseman, pitcher), are scheduled to participate as well. They attend Houston Memorial High School.

Baseball Factory and Team One scouts have determined that all players selected have the ability to play NCAA Division I or professional baseball. Scouts from many Division I colleges and Major League Baseball are expected to attend the tournament as well.

Past players in the tourney include David Wright of the New York Mets, Eric Hosmer of the Kansas City Royals and B.J. Upton of the Atlanta Braves.

The tournament will feature the top high school players in a 20-team wood bat tournament. Teams will be broken up by region to compete for the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament championship. Additionally, players will rotate amongst stations that include a pro-style workout.

Conser and Guilbeau will play for Texas North this weekend.

Pro scouts representing 23 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams attended the event in the past two years. Tournament officials said they expect a similar turnout in 2013. Many of the scouts will work the event as part of the coaching staff. In addition, the event has been covered by Baseball America and MLB.com.

Also, 2014 and 2015 graduates (which includes Conser) will be carefully considered by the scouts for selection to the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game, which is scheduled for Wrigley Field in Chicago and will be telecast live on MLB Network.

Recent Pre-Season All-Americans who used their performance at this event to gain selection for the Under Armour All-America Game include Kacy Clemens, Billy McKinney, Carson Kelly, Tomas Nido, Dante Bichette Jr. and Bryan Brickhouse, among others.
