NEW LONDON - The West Rusk Raiders beat the Sabine Cardinals 42-15 to improve to 3-0 for the season on Friday.

L.J. Harper rushed for one TD and threw for two others, and Devonta Medford carried 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders offense.

The Raiders jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter on an 8-yard scoring run by Harper, a 39-yard TD pass from Harper to Kevin Jones and an 8-yard touchdown run by Jaylon Garland. Jose Cerda added PATs after each score.

Medford scored his first TD on an 11-yard run just before halftime. A missed PAT made it 27-0 after two quarters.

West Rusk added nine more points in the third scoring on a 24-yard field goal by Cerda and an 18-yard Harper to Jones pass.

Sabine (0-3) finally found the end zone in the third, scoring on a 100-yard kickoff return by Glenn George. A miss PAT made it 36-6.

Medford scored his second TD on a 32-yard run with 4:20 left in the fourth.

The Cardinals came back for a final score on a 13-yard run by George and two-point conversion by Adam Caudle.
