JEFFERSON - Waskom opened the 2016 season with a thrilling, double-overtime win against the Jefferson Bulldogs on Friday, rallying for a 26-24 victory.

Keylon Johnson recovered a fumble in the end zone on Waskom’s second overtime possession, and Jason Jinks tacked on a two-point conversion.

Jefferson answered with a touchdown run by Damian Hines, but Jinks made a stop on the Bulldogs’ 2-point try to end the game.

Waskom took an early lead on a 1-yard run by Jacob Reeves, but Jefferson scored twice in the second quarter on an 82-yard run by Tyron Williams and a 1-yard run by Andre Boone to lead 12-6 at halftime.

Ty Carter’s 21-yard run in the third tied the game and eventually led to overtime.

Jefferson scored first in OT on a 1-yard run by Hines, but the try for two failed. Carter then countered with a 1-yard run for Waskom, but the game remained tied after a missed PAT to force a second extra set.
