WASKOM — The Waskom Wildcats spotted Arp a two-touchdown lead, but stormed back to hand the Tigers a 34-24 setback in a battle of District 8-3A Division II unbeatens Friday night.

Arp (4-1, 2-1) led 12-0 after a 62-yard run by Kayce Medlock in the first quarter and a 7-yard run by Marcalas Johnson midway through the second.

Waskom (5-1, 3-0) answered with a 40-yard touchdown run by Kevin Johnson and a 35-yard TD run by Trace Carter to take a 13-12 lead in at halftime.

Waskom extended the lead in the third with a 1-yard run by Carter, and then Kevin Johnson rambled 29 yards for a touchdown 13 seconds into the fourth quarter for the Wildcats.

Medlock threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jakeithon Medlock three minutes later to keep Arp close, but Johnson put things away with a 16-yard run at the 2:27 mark of the final quarter.

Marcalas Johnson scored from 19 yards out a minute later to cap the scoring.

Kevin Johnson led the Wildcats with 153 yards and 13 carries.

Marcalas Johnson led the Tigers with 96 yards on 15 carries.

Waskom will visit Winona on Friday and Arp plays host to rival Troup.
