WHITEHOUSE - Van, Edgewood, Jacksonville and host Whitehouse captured wins on Friday during the first day of the annual Woodmen Life TABO Classic at Wildcat Arena.

The event, organized by the Tyler Area Basketball Officials, raises scholarship funds for area basketball players.

The Classic continues on Saturday. The schedule includes: Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill vs. All Saints, noon; Bishop Gorman vs. Canton, 1:30 p.m.; Lindale vs. Wills Point, 3:30 p.m.; Winnsboro vs. Whitehouse, 5:30 p.m. (girls); and Center vs. Whitehouse, 7 p.m.

The first game was back-and-forth with Van's Zanden Worley putting back his own miss with 8.1 seconds remaining as the Vandals scored a 58-57 win over Grace Community.

Brax Thompson led Van with 17 points while Logan Lockwood added 15.

Caleb Culver led Grace with 19 points and Garrett Tauscher added 16.

In Game 2, the Edgewood Bulldogs moved to 3-0 with a 70-52 win over the Bishop Gorman Crusaders.

Trey Erwin led Edgewood with 28 points, with Ethan Harber pitching in 11.

Judah Bell had a game-high 33 points for the Crusaders, with Jake Smith adding 15.

Jacksonville outscored Mabank 19-2 in the third quarter to break open a close game as the Indians registered a 60-47 win in Game 3.

D.D. Hamilton led the Indians with 20 points with Cameron High adding 10.

Jordan Thomas paced Mabank with 23 points.

The topper of the first day saw Whitehouse down All Saints 87-51.

Four Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Justus Carnahan with 16. Ryan Walls added 13 with Isiah Clark scoring 12. Javier Neal contributed 10 points.

Nathan Jasper paced the Trojans with 14 points and Luke Lee added 11.
