BROWNWOOD - UT Tyler midfielder Leandro Cid-Fernandez scored a first-half equalizer with four seconds until the break and that is how the match ended up with the Patriots and Howard Payne sharing the spoils in a 1-1 tie Saturday at Citizens National Bank Field in the final regular-season road game of the season for the Patriots.

UT Tyler (8-5-1, 3-4-1 ASC) tied for the first time after securing a double-overtime win over Emory and taking an overtime loss to Texas College earlier this season. The Patriots are 5-4-1 away from Tyler coming into the final week of the regular season.

UT Tyler returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday against Concordia before playing its regular-season finale at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Both matches are set for Citizen’s 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex on the UT Tyler campus.

Patriot women blank HPU, 3-0

BROWNWOOD - The UT Tyler women’s soccer team extend its winning streak to nine and earned its seventh shutout of the season after taking a 3-0 American Southwest Conference win over Howard Payne on Saturday at Citizens National Bank Field.

Kathleen Johnson, Shelby Valdepena and Ashton Peeks recorded goals to the Patriots (11-2, 8-1 ASC) who limited the Yellow Jackets to only two shots in the game. UT Tyler is now 7-2 on the road this season and has outscored its opponents by a 37-2 margin over he nine-game winning streak.

UT Tyler returns to action at 5 p.m. on Thursday against Concordia before playing its regular-season finale at 5 p.m. next Saturday against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Both matches are set at Citizen’s 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex on the UT Tyler campus.
