COLLEGE STATION — The Tyler Rose Capital East Majors are one win away from a berth in the Texas East State Little League Tournament.

Late Sunday, Tyler East scored an 11-5 win over Northwest Austin in the Section I Tournament.

After falling behind 5-4 in the fourth, Tyler rallied for five runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Mason Hammonds, CJ Gardner and Peyton Walters each belted home runs for Tyler, while Colten Beaudet and Grayson Driggs each had doubles.

Hammonds, Gardner and Beaudet each had two hits, while Brandon Quarles, Walters, Dalton Loosier, Bryce Wilson and Driggs had one hit apiece.

Adding RBIs were Hammonds (3), Gardner (2), Quarles, Walters and Beaudet.

Hill Rippy led NW Austin with a 2 for 3 outing.

Walters got the win on the mound, pitching five innings while allowing just five hits and two earned runs. He struck out five. Driggs hurled the final inning, striking out one.

Tyler East had a bye on Monday and will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A win there gives RC East the sectional championship and a berth in the state tournament, which is July 19-23 at Faulkner Park in Tyler.
