All 12 Apaches scored as Tyler Junior College captured a 109-43 win over the national team of Antigua during Friday’s play in the Kurt Looby Classic at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

In the first game, Kilgore downed Houston Community College, 102-41.

The Classic, named for the former Apache from Antigua, moves to Kilgore College’s Masters Gymnasium today. TJC meets Houston CC at 5 p.m., followed by Kilgore and Antigua at 7 p.m.

DeAndre Harris paced TJC (7-2) with 18 points, while Daniel Edozie (15 points), Chris Samuel (14), Ta’Jon Welcome (12) and Dale Jones (10) also hit in double figures.

Winslo Barry added four blocks and eight rebounds for the Apaches.

“We played pretty well together. We needed that coming off a tough loss (81-72 to Lamar State in Port Arthur on Tuesday),” TJC coach Mike Marquis said.

“The first five minutes of the first half we played great and they played well; and we started really playing well. I thought our bench was spectacular in the first half. That gave us a ton of energy.”

Marlon Charles led Antigua with 13 points, while Kareem Edwards added 12.

“It’s tough because two or three of their primary players were not able to make it in for today,” Marquis said of the Antigua team. “That’s two 6-9s and a point guard and that would have helped. To our kids credit, they took it serious and played well. I was pleased with the effort.”
