JACKSONVILLE - The No. 2 Tyler Junior College Apaches scored a 3-0 victory over the Jacksonville College Jaguars in a Region XIV conference soccer match on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the TJC Apache Ladies blasted North Lake College, 10-0.

In the men's match, Yazeed Matthews, a sophomore from Johannesburg, South Africa, scored two goals to lead TJC. Rooby Dalusma, a sophomore from Douglasville, Georgia, added a goal.

Assists were from Alfonso Ochoa, a sophomore from Tyler, and Fredi Ortega, a freshman from Chicago. One of Matthews' goals was unassisted.

In goal for the clean sheet was Daniel Abarca, a sophomore from Tyler. It was his second shutout as the Apaches go to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.

TJC coach Steve Clements said his team will have a key match on Friday as the Apaches play host to No. 12 Jefferson (Missouri) College at Pat Hartley Field. The TJC home opener is set for 7 p.m.
