The Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies won the District I Soccer Tournament championship on Saturday and will now head to the NJCAA Women’s National Soccer Tournament Nov. 16-21 in Melbourne, Florida.
Coach Corey Rose’s team is ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 16-3-1 record. The Apache Ladies defeated Navarro 1-0 to claim the district title, their fifth district crown. The lone goal of the match was scored with 1:54 left in regulation off of a header by Kelso Peskin from a well-placed corner kick from Ana Lesmes.
TJC is the No. 2 seed at nationals and have been placed in Pool B with No. 7 Monroe (N.Y.) (13-2) and No. 11 Moraine Valley (Ill.) (14-1). Tyler’s first match is 2 p.m. (CST) Mondy against Moraine Valley.
