Texas College climbed close to the Top 25 in the latest NAIA men’s basketball rankings.
The Steers received 39 points in the poll, which came out Tuesday. TC missed the top 25 by two spots, garnering the second-most votes of non-ranked teams behind Georgetown, Ky., (47).
The Steers improved to 8-1 overall and a 3-0 in the Red River Athletic Conference earlier in the week. TC claimed first place in the RRAC to themselves with Monday’s 71-58 win over No. 20 Southwestern Assemblies of God (7-2, 2-1).
The Steers start a key three-game homestand Saturday against the University of the Southwest (N.M.), which continues with games against No. 11 Texas Wesleyan (Dec. 10) and Bacone (Dec. 13).
Georgetown (Ky.) saw its streak of 78 weeks in the Top 25 snapped. Texas Wesleyan now holds the longest active streak being ranked at 57 weeks.
Oklahoma Baptist (9-1) moved to the No. 1 position ahead of No. 2 Cumberlands, Ky. (10-0) and Lee, Tenn. (9-0).
