LONGVIEW - Zach Tulpa scored on a pair of 6-yard runs in the fourth quarter, and the Spring Hill Panthers rallied for a 26-15 win over the Troup Tigers on Friday at renovated Panther Stadium.
Troup opened the scoring with a 72-yard run late in the first half, and the Tigers tacked on the the 2-pointer to lead 8-0.
Troup took that lead into the break, but the Panthers pulled close in the third period when Dayson Adaway scored on a 1-yard run. The try for two failed, and Spring Hill trailed 8-6 with 7:56 to play.
Troup extended the lead to 15-6 with a touchdown pass from Weslee Ross to Colten Whitsell, but the final period belonged to the Panthers.
Tulpa’s 6-yard run pulled the home to within three points, 15-12, and then Panther junior Grant Bartel recovered a fumble in the end zone and Efren Barcenas booted the extra point for a 19-15 Spring Hill lead.
Tulpa’s second 6-yard run of the quarter came with 2:34 to play, and Barcenas nailed the PAT to make the final 26-15.
Spring Hill will visit Brownsboro on Friday, and Troup will host Ore City.
