AUSTIN — Led by Hagan Wood’s 77, the Spring Hill Panthers are third after Thursday’s first round of the UIL Class 3A State Golf Tournament.

The second and final round is today.

Spring Hill carded a team total of 330 on the Jimmy Clay Golf Course. Andrews leads with a 316, followed by Argyle at 319. Carthage is ninth with a 360.

Wood is tied for second in the medalist race. James Sandoval of Pleasanton leads with a 1-over 73. Wood is knotted with Tanner Napier of Paris, Zane Washburn of Gatesville and Drew Jones of Decatur.

Spring Hill’s Collin Thompson is tied for 10th at 79 and Carthage’s Wade Davis is tied for 15th at 80.

Other Spring Hill golfers include: Parker Fiscus (T19, 81), Cody Hawkins (57, 93) and Noah Reagh (T61, 95).

Henderson’s William Wilder is tied for 24th after an 82 and Brownsboro’s Jared Bragdon is tied for 39th with an 86.

In girls 3A, Andrews tops the field at 337, followed by Snyder (339) and Gatesville (343). Atlanta is seventh at 398 and Lufkin Hudson is No. 12 at 439.

Individually, Hailey Burgen of Andrews leads the field at 78, followed by Sarah Moore of Burkburnett (81) and Kirsten Payne of Fredericksburg (82).

Emory Rains’ Abigail Leath, competing as a medalist, shot a 97 and is tied for 35th.

Class 2A

In 2A boys, Sabine is tied for fourth with Crockett after both clubs fired 361. Troup is eighth with a 370. Holliday leads at 332 with Whitesboro next at 336. Salado is third at 344.

The 2A tourney is being played on Roy Kizer Golf Course.

Winnsboro’s Connor Whorff carded an 80 and is tied for eighth, while Troup’s Travis Young shot an 84 and is tied for 13th. R.J. Trainham of Holliday leads with a 76, one stroke ahead of Zach James of Whitesboro, Dane Hankamer of Salado and Kinley Lee of Clyde.

Sabine golfers include: Spencer Gregory (T21, 87), Tell DeFreece (T32, 90), Austin Gray (T32, 91), Jared Streeter (T39, 93) and Collin Gray (T42, 94).

Joining Young on the Troup squad were Austin Chambers (T29, 89), Callen Eastman (T54, 98), Dakota Boyer (58, 99) and Cody Johnson (T61, 102).

In the girls division, Salado leads with a 355, followed by Alpine (374) and East Bernard (374).

Quitman is eighth at 397, while Union Grove is 10th at 406.

Quitman was led by Molli Taylor, who is tied for fourth with Sidney Dermody of Sonora. They carded 81s. Kate Rimer of East Bernard leads with a 77, while Rashae Skillern of Alpine is second at 78. Meredith Ward’s 80 places her third.

Joining Taylor on the Quitman team are Kaleigh Martin (43, 101), Emily Oppermann (T48, 103) and Patience Barnes (T59, 112).

Union Grove golfers include: Hailey Bowen (35, 97), Malorie Attaway (T44, 102), Hannah Schnelle (T44, 102) and Katelyn Breazeale (52, 105).

Class 1A

The Martins Mill boys are fifth after scoring a 358 on the Lions Municipal Golf Course.

Weimar No. 1 tops the field at 333 with Seymour (348) second and Weimar No. 2 (349) third.

Martins Mill’s Donald Jackson fired an 84 and is tied for 10th. Trey Davila of Weimar No. 1 is winning the medalist race with a 78, followed by Greyson Ulrich of Weimar No. 2 and Logan Young of Normangee, both with 80s.

Bryce Westbrook of Douglass carded an 87 and is tied for 18th. Overton’s Colby Carpenter shot 93 and is tied for 42nd.

Joining Jackson on the Mustangs squad were July Latimer (T14, 86), J. Adam Burcham (T29, 89), Hunter Bennett (T53, 99) and Cody Wilson (T68, 114).

In the girls division, Grapeland and Weimar are tied for third at 387. Memphis leads at 351, followed by Gruver at 386. Martins Mill is 10th at 439.

Grapeland team members include: Shelby Frauenberger (14, 93), Jayde Westbrook (T18, 97), Amy Brown (22, 98), Kalee Walker (T23, 99) and Justine Dancer (T39, 105).

Martins Mill team members include: Stormy Phillips (13, 92), Amber Jones (T41, 106), Autumn Osborne (T51, 113), Kimberly Easley (66, 128) and Cassidy McCoy (67, 131).

Individually, Memphis’ April Bennett leads at 78 with Mandy Mayo of Paducah one stroke back. Kristie Guerrero is third at 84. Katelynn McCreight of Miller Grove is tied for fifth at 87.
