Daingerfield held off early trick plays by Winnsboro, took advantage of prime field position and totaled 437 yards in a 47-14 victory over the Red Raiders in a Class 2A Division I regional playoff game Friday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

The Tigers were unstoppable on offense after recovering a Winnsboro onside kick attempt to open the game. They rushed down the field in six plays with Shawn Hooks punctuating the drive with a 9-yard touchdown run.

Winnsboro answered with a six-play drive, which was highlighted by a 37-yard pass from Luke Tebbetts to Ryan Zimmerman and finished off with Chris Roberts' 8-yard run. A two-point run by Tebbetts gave the Red Raiders their first and only lead of the game.

Daingerfield found its defensive groove in the second quarter, forcing two punts and two turnovers-on-downs.

The offense continued to march, with the biggest play coming from a 65-yard touchdown pass to Tykeema Wilson from Edwin Mims. The play opened the floodgates — the Tigers went on to score 20 points in the frame — with Mims scoring on a 5-yard run and Cordarius Anderson finding paydirt with 12-yard score.

The passing attack — led by Keris Alexander's sharp short throws to Mims — allowed the running game to go off for 99 yards on 16 carries in the first half and ended the game with 165 yards on 28 carries.

Alexander was 9-for-9 with 116 yards in the first half and finished 14-of-17 for 207 yards.

Winnsboro did not go away in the third as David Santoy scored from 17 yards out on a six-play drive to tighten the score to 27-14.

However, Daingerfield slowed Winnsboro's roll when the Tigers' Alexander went deep on 3rd-and-17 to Wilson for a 44-yard strike to make the score 34-14. Wilson racked up 109 yards receiving.

Hooks caught a 29-yard pass from Alexander and Ramius Wallace galloped for an 8-yard dash as the Tigers padded their lead in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers held the Raiders to 218 yards on 61 offensive plays.

Daingerfield started inside Winnsboro territory on five of its final seven possessions.

The Tigers' next challenge will come against New Boston next week in the state quarterfinals.
