MESQUITE - In a game that featured 12 lead changes in the second half, Robert E. Lee trailed at the worst time in a 53-51 loss to Mesquite Horn on Tuesday afternoon at John Horn High School.

REL coach Ross Barber said the Lady Raiders "had our chances" to knock off the district-leading, unbeaten Lady Jaguars.

"You take out the second quarter when we had too many turnovers and we outscored them or matched them in every quarter," Barber said. "We played a really balanced game and I thought attacked them really well."

Horn took advantage of 25 free-throw attempts in the game compared to 12 for Lee.

Barber said Horn guard Niya Boyd was the difference for the Lady Jaguars.

"Their point guard did an incredible job carrying her team throughout the game," Barber said.

Boyd led all players with 20 points.

Junior JaKayla Bowie paced REL in the loss with 13 points.
