The East Texas Pump Jacks scored eight runs in the eighth inning and pitcher John Caskey allowed just two hits as East Texas defeated the Woodlands Strykers 9-0 Friday at UT Tyler's Irwin Field.
Caskey allowed no runs and just the two hits while striking out five to earn the victory.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when East Texas scored the first run of the game. James Lear scored on a single to make it 1-0 for the Pump Jacks.
That was the score until East Texas exploded offensively in the bottom of the eighth. The Pump Jacks loaded the bases with no outs and didn't stop scoring until eight runs had crossed the plate and they led 9-0.
The Pump Jacks improved to 5-1 in the second half of the season and won at home for the second night in a row.
East Texas will return to action tonight when they play at the Victoria Generals to begin a four-game road trip that will also include two games at the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Pump Jacks will be back home on July 16 against Victoria.
