KILGORE —The final weekend of the 2012 East Texas Pump Jacks season features fireworks, free player jerseys, team posters and the playoffs.
The playoffs are coming to historic Driller Park on Sunday, but before that, the Jacks close out the regular season with a pair of promotions.
On Friday, it’s the final Fireworks Friday of the season, presented by CBS19.
The Pump Jacks play host to Acadiana at 7:05 p.m.
For the fifth and final time this summer, the Jacks will light up the night sky after the game. The display will be set to a new soundtrack full of the season’s highlights.
Saturday marks the return of the Pump Jacks’ popular “Shirt Off Our Back Night,” presented by Allied Waste, when the Jacks host the McKinney Marshals at 7:05 p.m. in the regular season finale.
The Jacks will don special fifth anniversary jerseys for the game, and fans have two ways to win the game-worn shirts.
Fans can register to win some of the tops in a free drawing, while the remaining players and coaches jerseys will be available in a silent auction running throughout the evening.
Winners will join the team on the field to collect their prize directly from the player or coach. Players will also be available to sign the game-worn jerseys and pose for photographs with the winners.
On Sunday, the playoffs begin.
Not only does it mark the beginning of the postseason, but Sunday is also the return of an annual Pump Jacks tradition: “Team Poster Giveaway Night,” presented by Allied Waste. This year’s poster commemorates the team’s fifth anniversary — and Driller Park’s 65th birthday — in a collectible, vintage-style poster bearing the Pump Jacks players and coaches who have made this season so memorable.
With the league’s new “one-and-done” first round of the playoffs, if the Pump Jacks win on Sunday, they will advance to the TCL Championship Series. The Jacks’ opponent is still to be decided, but the team is prepared as it embarks on its fifth consecutive trip to the postseason. If the Jacks advance to the finals, the series will begin on Monday and conclude by Wednesday, with one or two games at Driller Park.
