LONGVIEW — The UT Tyler volleyball team split a pair of matches in American Southwest Conference pod-play on Saturday, sweeping Mississippi College 3-0 before falling 3-0 to East Texas Baptist.
Junior Breanna Brummett led the Patriots with 26 total kills.
In the first match, UT Tyler (13-5, 3-3) easily dismissed the Choctaws (2-10, 0-5) 25-21, 25-10, 25-13 en route to a 3-0 win. Brummett led the way in the first match with 13 kills, the only Patriot in double-digits while Rebecca Floyd finished with 33 assists. Rachael Harvey added nine kills to go with 19 digs and three assists.
The Patriots finished with six total blocks, and 43 kills to MC’s 23.
In the second match, UT Tyler held a 19-13 lead in set one, but was unable to hang on, falling 26-24 in set one.
UT Tyler was unable to take control in the next two sets, falling 25-12, 25-20, losing 3-0 to the Tigers.
Brummett finished with 13 kills, while Floyd once again led the team in assists with 28.
The Patriots will look to move up in the ASC standings next weekend, with three conference matches on tap in Marshall.
UT Tyler will face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. showdown with Sul Ross State.
The ladies will then play Concordia-Texas at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
