SHREVEPORT, La. — The UT Tyler women’s basketball team opened its season with a 71-53 loss to NAIA opponent LSU-Shreveport on Friday night.
Sophomore Teylor Seals led the way for the Patriots, scoring 20 points in her UT Tyler debut.
Newcomer Breann McMillan cut the Pilots lead to 30-26 with just over a minute to play in the first, but LSU-S was able to score the last four points of the first-frame, including a bucket by Christy Willis with just seconds remaining to make the score 34-26 at the half.
Christy Willis led all scorers with 23 points on the night for LSU-S, also adding five rebounds in the win. UT Tyler now heads home to take on Austin College in the first home game of the season, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
