Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin has been named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the ninth week of the 2014 college football season.
Boykin threw a school-record seven touchdown passes and the 10th-ranked Horned Frogs showcased a new fast-paced offense by scoring the most points in their history in an 82-27 rout of Texas Tech. It was TCU's first win in three tries against the Red Raiders since joining the Big 12 two years ago. The 82 points are a Big 12 record for a conference game. Boykin was 22 of 39 for 433 yards while setting a career high in yards passing for the second week in a row.
Boykin graduated from West Mesquite High School, Dallas.

THE EARL CAMPBELL TYLER ROSE AWARD
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.
