Baker Mayfield's accuracy was on point on Saturday against TCU.

The Oklahoma quarterback completed 23 of 30 passes for 274 yards as the Sooners defeated the No. 21 Horned Frogs.

The performance helped Mayfield be named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the fifth week of the college football season, announced Tuesday by Cindy Smoak, vice president of SPORTyler.

Mayfield, a junior, threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Oklahoma held off TCU in Fort Worth. He finished with 55 yards rushing.

Mayfield's 76.7 percent completion rate was the best of the season. He's completing 67.8 percent of his passes on the season.

‘I thought he was exceptional today," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. "He threw some great balls deep for touchdowns and got some great third downs."

A graduate of Lake Travis High School in Austin, Mayfield is a transfer walk-on who started his career at Texas Tech.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define 1977 Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.

In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: be born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year Division I Texas college.
