Brook Hill takes care of Canyon Creek

BULLARD — The Brook Hill Lady Guard improved to 7-1 in TAPPS 3A District 4 volleyball action with a three-game sweep over Richardson-Canyon Creek Tuesday night at the Herrington Sports Complex.

Behind 15 kills, three service aces, and five blocks from junior Samantha Anderson, Brook Hill won by scores of 25-10, 25-13, and 25-18.

The Lady Guard win sets up Brook Hill (12-5, 6-1) for a shot at a tie for first-place in district on Thursday when McKinney Christian comes to Bullard with an unblemished league record.

“I am really proud of the way the girls have really hustled and stayed positive this season,” said coach Joanna Rathbun. “There are some things we need to improve on but they are starting to work together better as a team, and they are still getting better each game.

“Thursday will be a big game for us, but if we focus on working as a team the way we have been we should be alright.”

Sophomore Charlie Niles was a huge factor for Brook Hill in the win over Canyon Creek (0-7), finishing with 14 assists, three kills, and four digs. Junior Lindsey Wheeler added six assists and five digs.

Senior Hayden Langemeier registered one of her three kills on the night midway through game two, and started a run for Brook Hill at 15-10 that ended 25-13.

Four ties in game three were aided by seven unforced Lady Guard errors before sophomore Emily Webb stepped up to make a block, a kill and served out a five point run to seal the win.
