MALAKOFF - The No. 7-ranked Malakoff Tigers scored an eight straight-season opening win Friday night, cruising to a 47-6 decision against the Bullard Panthers.
The Tigers raced out to a 40-0 halftime lead, highlighted by a 102-yard Q.T. Barker interception return on Bullard's first possession. Barker also caught a 32-yard touchdown from Judd Miller in the first half.
Malakoff marched 70 yards in eight plays on the game's opening possession, Jaquaylon Hart covering the final 46 after taking a Miller handoff.
Breashawn Williams scored twice for the Tigers on runs of 32 and 60 yards. A.J. Cook had a four-yard run and Miller ran one in from two yards out.
Bullard avoided the shutout with 7:06 left in the game when Cleet Bowman passed 18 yards to Will McCowin.
The Tigers go to Bullard next week. Bullard is at home against Groesbeck.
