BULLARD — Connor Mebane led the Bullard Panthers past Groesbeck, 41-14, on Friday night in the season opener.

Mebane went 18 for 23 passing on the night with four touchdowns and finished the game with 369 yards passing.

Bullard scoreed three third quarter touchdowns to stretch its lead to 34-14.

Sophomore D’Juan Martin jumped a screen route in the fourth quarter, intercepting the pass and returning it 10 yards for a touchdown to secure the victory for the Panthers. Martin also had a fumble recovery earlier in the game.

Groesbeck put up two touchdowns in the second quarter, one on a 2-yard run from Jacob Fox and the other on a connection from Chandler Boyd to Sabrian Jones for 21 yards.

Bullard will face Brownsboro on the road next Friday. Groesbeck will be hosting Cochrane (Alberta, Canada) on Thursday.
