July Latimer, of Martins Mill, captured the bronze medal after Thursday's final round of the UIL Class 2A Boys State Golf Tournament at Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin.

Latimer fired a 1-under 70 for a 36-hole total of 143 to place third in the medalist race. Logan Young, of Normangee, captured first place with a score of 138 (67-71), while Olney's Tanner Thompson was runner-up at 141 (65-76).

Normangee won the team title with a 630 (315-315). Olney was second at 658 (318-340), followed by first-round leader Brookeland (313-351—664). Brookeland won a playoff with Panhandle (334-330—664).

Grapeland (328-337—665) finished a stroke back in fifth, while Martins Miller (343-326—669) was sixth. Cross Roads placed 12th at 754 (386-368).

Golfers for Grapeland include Brayden Cheatham (75-77—152), Riley Chipman (83-89—172), Case Boyd (84-86—170), Blake Watson (86-85—171) and Zach Lewis (89-100—189).

Joining Latimer on the Mustangs' team are J. Adam Burcham (82-79—161), Trey Saxon (86-79—165), Spencer Hines (102-101—203) and Hagen Bennett (106-98—204).

Cross Roads golfers include Randy Flowers (86-80—166), Tyler Johnson (93-97—190), Taylor McKenzie (103-86—189), Jace Watson (104-105—209) and Carson Paroline (113-118—231).

Alto's Casey Cannon carded a 174 (89-85). Overton's Landon Carpenter finished at 175 (83-92).

In the girls 2A tournament, Memphis won the team race at 670 (336-334), followed by Wellington (349-360—703) and Thrall (373-374—745). Cross Roads finished 11th at 931 (475-456) and Grapeland was 12th at 970 (486-484).

Shelby Cmerek (77-79—156), of Miles, won medalist honors in a playoff over Memphis' Casey Monzingo (78-78—156). Memphis' Renee Molloy was third at 157 (77-80).

Emily Walker paced Grapeland with a 171 (89-82—171). Other Grapeland linksters were Kadie Richburg (131-129—260), Madelyn Conner (132-126—258), Callie Richburg (134-WD) and Sayler LeBlanc (147-147—294).

Cross Roads golfers include Alex Dickson (108-105—213), Bailey Bass (126-121—247), Morgan Wilson (103-108—211), Jennifer Bradford (138-122—260) and Abby Newman (141-143—284).

The Class 1A tournament was held at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.

In the girls event, Wink won with an 822 (405-417), followed by Utopia (419-404—823) and Leakey (431-425—856).

Shaley Goad, of Briscoe Fort Elliott, won the individual race with a 154 (78-76). Marki Kinkade of Blanket finished second at 161 (82-79).

Emily Walker of Baird was third at 173 (88-85).

In the boys tournament, Throckmorton captured first place at 663 (337-336), followed by Happy (342-340—682) and Bronte (358-352—710).

Lanham Brown, of Throckmorton, won medalist honors with a 148 (77-71). Mitchell Downing of Happy was second at 150 (73-77). Moulton's Mathew Orask was third at 152 (77-75).

James Hutson of Kennard had a 190 (96-94).
