WHITEHOUSE — Watching the Whitehouse offense execute, you would hardly know it had rained or was raining Friday night as quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with six different receivers on 27 of 36 passing for 338 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 59-3 win over Marshall.

Asked about the conditions of the field, Whitehouse coach Adam Cook said, "There was never a consideration of not playing this game."

When asked how the rain would affect his offense, he said, "We have ball boys with a lot of towels and instructions to keep the balls as dry as possible."

Marshall received the opening kickoff and drove the ball fairly successfully until the drive stalled out and the Mavericks missed a 35-yard field goal.

From there, Whitehouse did what it does — fast-paced, high-powered offensive outbursts.

Starting on their own 20, the Wildcats put together a drive made up mostly of short passes from Mahomes to three different receivers. The last throw went to Jake Parker for 24 yards and set up the Wildcats for their first of eight touchdowns.

Shemar Smith carried the ball in from 11 yards out and the Wildcats never trailed again.

Whitehouse's first-team offense scored touchdowns on all but three of its possessions, and a field goal on one of the others.

On one of Whitehouse's unsuccessful drives, Mahomes booted a 71-yard punt to pin the Mavericks deep in their own territory.

Both teams will get one more tune-up game before starting district.Whitehouse (4-0) entertains 3A powerhouse Carthage on Friday. Marshall (0-3) plays Jacksonville at home.
