Robert E. Lee’s district game against Longview has been moved up one day in order for it to be allowed to be shown on television, according to REL coach Darrell Piske.
The District 12-5A clash between the Red Raiders and Lobos will now take place on Halloween, Oct. 31 at Lobo Stadium, and will be broadcast live on CBS-19.
This is the second time Lee and Longview’s annual district clash will be shown on live television. The Lobos defeated Lee 35-7 in a 2005 game played at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium, which was shown by Fox Sports Net.
Lee hasn’t fared well in televised games since 2004. Lee lost to Cincinnati Colerain (OH) 27-12 on ESPNU, also in 2005. In 2010, Lee lost its season opener to Euless Trinity 35-0 in a game broadcasted live on ESPNU.
The Red Raiders’ last televised victory was over Spring Westfield in the 2004 Division I state championship.
