WHITEHOUSE - It was a winning start for Robert E. Lee girls basketball and new head coach Jacquetta Brown.

The Lady Raiders defeated Whitehouse 53-12 on Tuesday in the season opener for both teams at Wildcat Arena.

Brown said she was pleased with the win, but not satisfied.

“We played quality defense, but we still have a lot of work to do,” Brown said. “Our press was pretty effective and we were able to create scoring chances the other way. We forced them into a lot of turnovers.”

The Lady Raiders were led offensively by senior Erin Brinkley (18 points) and sophomore Jakayla Bowie (11 points).

Lee will next compete at the Burleson Centennial Tournament. REL opens up against Lubbock Estacado at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Burleson at Centennial High School.
