James Jackson led the way with 28 points as No. 8 LaPoynor took down Cross Roads 75-56 in the Class 2A regional quarterfinals on Tuesday at UT Tyler’s Herrington Patriot Center.

Xavier Oliver added 15 for the Flyers, who will play Tenaha in the regional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday from Jewett Leon High School.

Tenaha beat New Summerfield 38-35 on Tuesday in Hallsville.

Cross Roads, which was led by 14 points from Randy Flowers, finished its season 20-12.

LaPoynor (28-4) took an 18-9 lead after one quarter only to trail 29-28 at halftime. However a 22-10 third quarter put the Flyers back on top for good.
