GARLAND - The Robert E. Lee Lady Raiders made their free throws down the stretch to defeat Garland 59-47 Tuesday and even their District 11-6A record at 2-2.

The Lady Raiders led by 10 points in the third period, but had to hold off the Owls in the fourth for victory.

“We fought through heavy pressure from (Garland) and minimized our turnovers,” Lee coach Jacquetta Brown said. “We were able to withstand their run by making free throws.”

All told, Lee converted 22 of 32 from the charity stripe. The Lady Raiders senior Erin Brinkley and sophomore Ja’Kayla Bowie finished with 16 points apiece to lead the team.

Garland’s Nia Randall outpaced all players with 28 points in a losing cause.

The Lady Raiders return home Friday to face North Garland with a 7:15 p.m. tip at Varsity Gymnasium.
