LUFKIN - Kilgore's Patrick "Buddy" Jackson threw for three touchdowns to three different receivers and ran for two other scores in leading the Bulldogs to a 62-26 win over Huffman Hargrave in a Class 4A, Division I, Region III bi-district contest at Abe Martin Stadium on Thursday night.
Jackson was 5 of 7 passing for 155 yards with touchdown strikes to Caylon Williams, A.J. Henson and Chris Toombs.
On the ground, the sophomore quarterback led Kilgore's 403-yard ground-and-pound offense with 143 yards on nine carries as Kilgore, the top seed from 9-4A, improved to 8-3.
The loss completes Huffman Hargrave's season at 6-5.
Kilgore advances to meet El Campo (8-3), who defeated Houston Wheatley, 63-7, on Thursday night, at New Caney-Porter on Friday night.
Jackson enjoyed his best night of the season, overshadowing the performance of 1,000-plus yard rusher Ja'Quorius Smith, who finished with 120 yards and two touchdowns, coming on runs of 66 and 1 yard.
Christian Galvan booted field goals of 25 and 42 yards to go with eight extra points.
Kilgore defensive end Kenderick Fagans picked off two Cody Gaitan passes, within a minute's time late in the second quarter, returning one of those 15 yards for a touchdown as the Ragin' Red scored 17 unanswered points in the final 1:38 of the half to open 21-point cushion at halftime, 41-20.
Jackson's scoring strikes covered 40 yards to Williams, 26 to Henson and 43 to Toombs.
Kilgore outgained Huffman Hargrave in total yardage 558 to 351.
Gaitan threw for four touchdowns and 240 yards, two to Dylan Lorfing and two to Lane Shively.
