ROCKWALL - Robert E. Lee lost its starting libero and had its three-game district win streak snapped Tuesday at Rockwall.

The Lady Raiders lost 25-8, 25-19, 25-18 to drop to 4-2 in District 11-6A. More important is the status of senior Taylor Hale, who was forced out of the match in Game 1 due to injury.

REL coach Ronda Shirley said Hale was “kneed in the back” while covering a hitter at the net and “she couldn’t even stand she was in so much pain.”

Shirley said Hale’s father took her to the emergency room and her teammates never refocused.

“She went down and we just couldn’t recover,” Shirley said.

Lee was led offensive in the loss by sophomore Neely Williams, who had six kills while senior Deja Hamilton finished with five kills. In Hale’s absence, Macy Behm and Blythe Heisey combined for 15 digs.
