2013 Result: Whitehouse 45, Corsicana 14

About Whitehouse: A year ago at this time the Wildcats were undefeated and cruising toward a district title. Three straight league losses has put Whitehouse into must-win mode going forward. The Wildcats can make the playoffs, but have to get things turned around and that starts with this game.

About Corsicana: The Tigers can put themselves into the playoff conversation going down the stretch if Corsicana can take care of Whitehouse at home. Jamaal Evans has rushed for 667 yards and four touchdowns thus far with JaMicha Polk totaling 301 yards and two scores. Quarterback Kishawn Kelley has passed for 415 yards and four touchdowns.

Next Up: Jacksonville at Whitehouse, 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 24; Corsicana at John Tyler, 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 24

Nacogdoches at Jacksonville, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Nacogdoches 5-1 (2-1); Jacksonville 3-3 (0-3)

Last Week's Results: Nacogdoches 49, Corsicana 21; Lindale 38, Jacksonville 15

2013 Result: Nacogdoches 31, Jacksonville 0

About Nacogdoches: The Dragons rebounded impressively from their first district setback to Ennis by taking advantage of three first-half turnovers to blast Corsicana. Nacogdoches led 21-0 early and 28-7 at halftime. Dragons quarterback Hunter McClennan passed for 216 yards and 3 TDs in the win also.

About Jacksonville: The remaining District 16-5A road for the Indians looks treacherous with three of the four matchups against current and/or former state ranked teams. Quarterback Carter McCown passed for 134 yards and rushed for 94 last week in a loss to Lindale.

Lufkin at Lindale, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Lufkin 3-3 (1-2); Lindale 2-4 (1-2)

Last Week's Results: John Tyler 26, Lufkin 24; Lindale 38, Jacksonville 15

2013 Result: Did not play.

About Lufkin: The Panthers were denied by a last-second field goal in a loss to John Tyler, so you can bet Lufkin will be in a foul mood as it travels back north on Hwy 69 to face Lindale for the first time. The Panthers are averaging 37.1 points per game and face an Eagles defense surrendering 34 points per contest.

About Lindale: The Eagles went on the road and notched a hard-fought and complete victory at Jacksonville last week with tailback Ryan Taylor producing a career-best 291 yards rushing and a touchdown. Lindale will need more of that in this one to put points on the board and keep Lufkin's high-powered offense on the sideline.

Next Up: Ennis at Lufkin, 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 24; Lindale at Nacogdoches, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct 24

Last Week's Results: Rains 23, Bullard 15; Nevada Community 42, Canton 13

2013 Result: Did not play.

About Bullard: The Panthers did not start district play out the way they wanted and look to make amends on the road tonight against a Community team that made quick work of Canton in its league opener. Brentayvian Henderson leads Bullard, averaging 133 yards rushing per game. Connor Mebane is averaging 130 yards passing and 88 yards rushing.

About Nevada Community: Community fired the first shot of sorts in District 5-4A Division II by taking down Canton last week. The Eagles began the season as district contender, but have been hurt by injuries. Nevada Community is scoring 37 points per game and allowing 32 points per outing.

Next Up: Gilmer at Bullard, 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct 24; Nevada Community at Rains, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct 24

Mineola at Harmony, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Mineola 3-3 (1-0); Harmony 3-3 (1-0)

Last Week's Results: Mineola 20, White Oak 17; Harmony 37, Quitman 12

2013 Result: Did not play.

About Mineola: The Yellowjackets showed the district they were going to be a contender last week by upsetting White Oak on the road. Mineola running back Chantz Perkins finished with 155 yards last week with quarterback Jeremiah Crawford helping the Yellowjackets rally back from a 17-3 deficit.

About Harmony: The Eagles used two-touchdown performances from both Spencer Seahorn and Eric Contreras in its win last week over Quitman. Harmony has won three of its last four games and is averaging 28 points per contest.

Next Up: Jefferson at Mineola, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24; Harmony vs. White Oak, 7 p.m. Saturday Oct. 25 at Lobo Stadium, Longview

Alto at Carlisle, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Alto 5-0 (1-0); Carlisle 5-1 (1-0)

Last Week's Results: Alto 59, Grapeland 0; Carlisle 56, Cross Roads 0

2013 Result: Did not play.

About Alto: The Yellowjackets destroyed Grapeland last week to begin District 11-2A Division I play with a win and remain unbeaten for the season. Alto's offense has been impressive, averaging 59.3 points per game and 506 total yards per outing, most of that on the ground. Keenan Johnson enters this clash that could ultimately decide the district champion with 985 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns.

About Carlisle: The Indians have won five in a row after being stopped by Union Grove in their opener. Like Alto, Carlisle made easy work of its district-opening opponent and now square off with the winner of this game in the driver's seat for a district title. Prior to its win over Cross Roads, Carlisle had been averaging just 25 points per game. You can do that when you only give up 12 points per contest, but it will be a test against high-powered Alto.

Next Up: Cayuga at Alto, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24; Carlisle at Grapeland, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24
