HS Football Honor Roll: Week 1



Tyler Bate, Sr., LB, Bishop Gorman: Bate finished with 16 tackles, one for loss.

Caleb Chadwell, K, Brook Hill: Chadwell was 4 for 4 on FGs (27, 31, 27, 38) and perfect on extra points.

Andrew Cotton, LB, Grace Community: Cotton finished with 15 tackles (6 solo).

Jacob Dumesnil, Brook Hill: Dumesnil returned a punt 41 yards for a touchdown in loss to St. Bernard’s (California).

Frankston Indians: Frankston had three interceptions (Chris Cruz, Justice Bean, Jordan Pace) and two fumble recoveries (Dylan Hokit, Cruz) in win over Grand Saline.

Martin Guzman, Sr., LB, Bishop Gorman: Guzman finished with 16 tackles, two for loss while kicking a field goal and two touchbacks as placekicker.

Billy Hall, Leverett’s Chapel: Hall finished with 13 solo tackles, blocked an extra point and recovered a fumble.

Hawkins Hawks: The Hawks forced three second-half turnovers to give themselves a chance to rally back before falling short in loss to Winona.

Christian Hooper, Grace Community: While also kicking 4 PATs and a 19-yard FG, Hooper had four tackles and a forced fumble.

Blake Johnson, Sr., LB, Bishop Gorman: Johnson finished with seven tackles had a fumble recovery and an interception.

Lindale Eagles: Lindale delivered a shutout in its 27-0 victory over Chapel Hill, holding the Bulldogs to 191 yards of total offense. Tyler Segrest also scored a defensive TD by recovering a bad snap in the end zone.

Carson Mizell, Sr., S, Lindale: Mizell finished with nine tackles and an interception.

Mineola Yellowjackets: The Yellowjackets had two interceptions (Kourtland Sinches, Dalton Harris), one of them returned 100 yards for a touchdown (Harris), in a win over Elysian Fields.

Jonathan Simmons, DB, Elkhart: Simmons had two interceptions for the Elks.

Chad Taylor, Elkhart: Taylor returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown and took another one back for a 34-yard return. Taylor also had an interception.

Chris Toombs, Kilgore: Toombs returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown in Bulldogs loss to Nacogdoches.

D.J. Williams, LB, Elkhart: Williams finished with 19 tackles, three for loss and two sacks.

Shaundrick Williams, LB, John Tyler: Williams finished with 11 tackles in Lions loss.

Winona Tigers: The Tigers stop unit held Hawkins to three first downs in the first half while also forcing two turnovers, both of which ended up leading to points in Winona’s win.



Demonquez Allen, Mount Pleasant: Allen rushed 28 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns in loss to Paris.

Grace Community Receivers: The trio of Parker Ary, Garrett Tauscher and Brady Newman each had five catches and a TD.

Seth Brasher, Sr., WR, Brook Hill: Brasher finished with 6 catches for 220 yards and 3 TDs (33, 58, 75) in loss to St. Bernard’s (California).

TJ Brumley, QB, Frankston: Brumley passed for 216 yards 3 TDs and rushed for 97 yards in Frankston’s win over Grand Saline.

Jeremiah Crawford, QB, Mineola: Crawford rushed for 180 yards and a TD (78) and passed for 186 yards and 2 TDs (33, 61) in Yellowjackets win.

Marques Crouch, Wills Point: Crouch carried 35 times for 242 yards and 3 TDs in loss to Forney.

Isaiah Davis/Marcello Jackson, Gladewater: Jackson rushed for 140 yards and 2 TDs and Davis finished with 117 yards and two scores.

Dain Duncan, Sabine: Duncan scored four touchdowns, highlighted by a 80-yard run in Sabine’s win over Queen City.

Trent Easley/Andy Gibson, Grand Saline: Easley finished with 110 yards and a TD rushing and 138 passing and a TD with Gibson totaling 116 yards rushing in a loss to Frankston.

Trey Erwin, QB, Edgewood: Erwin passes for 194 yards and 2 TDs (42, 7) and rushed for 82 yards and 2 TDs (22, 1).

McCray Fletcher, QB, Brook Hill: Fletcher, in his first start, passed for 397 yards and 3 TDs.

Isiah Francis, WR, Rusk: Francis finished with eight catches for 130 yards and 2 TDs.

Logan Fuller, RB, Athens: Fuller carried 34 times for 174 yards and 2 TDs (8, 1) in loss to Henderson.

Andy Gibson/Trent Easley, Frankston: Gibson and Easley both surpassed the century mark in rushing Friday with Gibson totaling 116 and Easley going for 110 and a touchdown.

Zack Gray/Luke London, RBs, Elkhart: Gray totaled 286 yards on 23 carries with two TDs and London finished with 163 yards on 15 carries and three TDs.

Tyrec Grayson, Sr., WR, Robert E. Lee: Grayson finished with 152 yards receiving and a TD (93) and scored on 4-yard TD run in loss .

Cam Haller/Chavis Mills, Marshall: Haller, a junior QB, rushed 11 times for 105 yards and 5 TDs with Mills carrying 10 times for 93 yards and three scores in Marshall’s win.

Jaylon Hawkins, Jr., RB, Sulphur Springs: Hawkins carried 19 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns in loss to Rockwall-Heath.

Noah Hildebrand, QB, Nacogdoches: Hildebrand completed 14 of 17 passes for 215 yards and 2 TDs (40, 41).

Jake Hugghins, QB, Rusk: Hugghins passed for 251 yards and four TDs while also scoring a rushing TD in Rusk’s win over Troup.

Josh Johnson, Sr., RB, Bishop Gorman: Johnson finished with 14 carries for 103 yards and a TD.

Phillip Jones, RB, Nacogdoches: Jones carried 29 times for 155 yards and 2 TDs (6, 11).

Judd Miller, QB, Malakoff: Making his debut, Miller tossed three TD passes and ran for two more in Malakoff’s win over Mildred.

Hunter Moore, QB, Canton: Moore passed for

Tamrick Pace/Wyatt Rinehart, Brownsboro: The teammates combined to rush for over 250 yards. Pace totaled 149 while also tossing a TD pass while Rinehart rushed for 121, highlighted by a 68-yard TD run.

Chantz Perkins, RB, Mineola: Perkins rushed for 91 yards and a TD (35) and 89 yards receiving with a TD (33).

Ethan Rakich/Marcus Tucker/Jeremy Moses, Winnsboro: The trio ran all over Spring Hill with Rakich finishing with 218 yards (2 TDs), Tucker totaling 147 (3 TDs) and Moses racking up 107 yards (1 TD).

Tanner Roach, QB, Whitehouse: Roach passed for 22 0 yards and 3 TDs (31, 11, 11) in loss to Texas High.

Kendrick Rogers, WR, Frankston: Rogers caught 5 passes for 147 yards in win.

Bryson Smith, QB, John Tyler: Smith rushed for 144 yards and a TD (60) and passed for 120 yards and a TD (15) in loss to Plano.

Ryan Taylor, RB, Lindale: Taylor finished with 104 yards and two TDs in Eagles win.

Alphonso Thomas, Van: Thomas accounted for 3 TDs, two rushing (50, 1) and one receiving (24) in Vandals win over Palestine.

Sam Thomas, RB, Rusk: Thomas carried 16 times for 134 yards and a TD.

LaKendrick Vanzandt, Henderson: Vanzandt rushed for 101 yards and a TD and also hauled in a 56-yard TD pass in Henderson win.

Tavon Wesley, Sr., RB, Robetrt E. Lee: Wesley carried 14 times for 121 yards and 3 TDs (10, 65, 6) in loss to Fossil Ridge.

Christopher Wilhelmi, QB, Grace Community: Wilhelmi passed for 236 yards and 3 TDs (5, 42, 6) and rushed for 72 yards and a TD (2) in Cougars win.
