The Whitehouse defense put the dam up as they forced Chapel Hill into five turnovers in the battle of Lake Tyler on Friday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances’ Rose Stadium.

The result was a Whitehouse 34-7 win over the Bulldogs.

The Wildcat defense turned two interceptions into scores and quarterback Tanner Roach hooked up with Zach Parker twice with touchdown passes with the last coming on a 64-yard scoring strike to put the Wildcats up 34-7 with 7:10 left in the game.

Isaac Little picked off a Bulldog pass with 4:16 left in the third period and rambled 46 yards down the visitors’ sideline for the score.

Whitehouse’s Javier Neal had two interceptions in the first half and returned one 55 yards for a touchdown for a 14-7 Wildcat lead with 10:27 left before halftime. Kyevon Rider had the other interception for Whitehouse in the opening period.

Clayton Cook, who rushed for 75 yards on just four carries did not play most of the game due to an injury sustained early in the game, got the Wildcats on the scoreboard first capping off an 11-play 75-yard drive at 7:11 left of the first quarter. The kick failed.

The big play of the drive came on third-and-12 as Roach passed in the direction of sophomore Cameron Cantrell and he hauled it in at the Bulldog 2-yard line.

The Bulldogs answered to take the lead at 7-6 when Jaxon Heckel found Austin Dobbs for 13-yard scoring strike. Robbie Williams added the point after to give Chapel Hill its only lead and only score on the night.

Whitehouse (2-0) forced a fumble and Dayton Thompson pounced on the fumble to give the Wildcats the football.

Chapel Hill’s Cale Caruthers recovered a Wildcat fumble for the Bulldogs.

Parker had nine receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while Roach passed for two touchdowns and 205 yards through the air.

Chapel Hill was led by Andrian Miner who rushed for 65 yards 15 carries.
