WHITEHOUSE — The Whitehouse Wildcats earned a spot in the Class 4A baseball playoffs, beating third-place Corsicana 11-3 on Friday night at Wildcat Field.

Behind the arm of Pat Mahomes, an eight-hit barrage and an eight-run second-inning, Whitehouse cruised into the playoffs.

The Tigers appeared to be ready to jump on the Wildcats with three runs as starting pitcher Brady Harlan ripped a two-RBI single. Two batters later DJ Minnister lofted a sacrifice fly to deep center field for an early 3-0 lead.

Jake Parker lifted a sacrifice fly at the base of the left field wall to plate Eric Munoz after his lead off single started Whitehouse chipping away.

Rather than chip away, the Wildcats chose to bring out the dynamite and blow it open.

Singles by Caleb McNulty, Munoz, Ryan Cheatham and slugger Peyton Conser, combined with four walks and a well-executed sacrifice by Mahomes, Whitehouse rolled eight runs on the board and for a 9-3 lead.

Mahomes went five innings, fanned six and walked one. He was 1 for 3 with a RBI and a sacrifice.

Munoz was a catalyst for Whitehouse with a 3-for-4 outing with three runs scored, two stolen bases and two RBIs. Cheatham was a solid 3 for 3, scoring three times and driving in three runs.

Whitehouse freshman Ryan Walls came on in relief without allowing a run, striking out two.

Corsicana got two hits from one player, Harlan.
