ARP — Hunter Owens and Caleb Carr both topped the century mark on the ground, and the White Oak Roughnecks built a big lead early en route to a 56-14 win over the West Rusk Raiders on Friday night.
Owens paced the Roughnecks’ 319-yard rushing attack by carrying 15 times for 164 yards and three scores. Carr finished with 108 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while also passing for a pair of scores.
George Anthony had a big night in the loss for West Rusk, carrying 29 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
White Oak got on the board first when Carr rambled 22 yards to cap a five-play, 57-yard drive with 8:22 remaining in the opening quarter.
Ethan Land booted the PAT, and the Roughnecks led 7-0.
Four minutes later, Owens scored his first touchdown of the night with a 14-yard run to finish off a four-play, 49-yad drive.
A 61-yard touchdown pass from Cale Bickham to Trey Gordon got the Raiders on the board with 3:07 to play in the first stanza, but the Roughnecks answered with a 7-yard run by Owens to take a 21-7 lead into the second quarter.
White Oak ended the competitive portion of the game with a 28-point eruption in the second quarter.
