WHITE OAK - After spotting New Diana a lead early, the White Oak Roughnecks scored 47 unanswered points - scoring on offense and defense to open the 2016 season with a 47-7 win over the New Diana Eagles at Roughneck Stadium.

Heath Hood Rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the way for White Oak, which spoiled the coaching debut for New Diana's Robbie Coplin on a night that saw Mother Nature force the contest to be delayed for nearly an hour.

Once things started, New Diana got on the board on a scoring run from Jordan Stroud.

The Roughnecks tied things on a Max Kutch touchdown run and Connor Weeks' extra point to make it 7-7, and then Antonio Castiglione recovered a fumble to set up another Roughneck touchdown.

Hood did the scoring honors this time around on a quarterback keeper, and White Oak led 13-7 after a missed PAT.

Hood's 1-yard run and the PAT by Weeks made it 20-7, and then Brandon Cook picked off a pass and took it to the house for a 27-7 Roughneck cushion.

Hood's third rushing touchdown of the night made it 33-7, and then he tossed a scoring strike to Elijah Trest for a 40-7 lead.

Hood capped his big night in the third quarter with a touchdown pass to Cook to make the final 47-7.

White Oak will host T.K. Gorman and New Diana hosts Grand Saline next Friday.
