JT 3, Henderson 2

The John Tyler Lady Lions got back on the winning track on Tuesday, capturing a 3-2 win over the Henderson Lady Lions in a non-district volleyball match at Boulter Middle School.

JT (7-3) will next play in the annual Tyler Invitational Tournament beginning Thursday. JT will play at the JTHS Lions Den on Thursday against Harmony (noon), Mabank (3 p.m.) and Bryan Rudder (4 p.m.).

Henderson also plays in the Tyler Invite on Thursday against Whitehouse (1 p.m.), Little Elm (3 p.m.) and Mineola (5 p.m.) at Three Lakes Middle School.

Henderson was coming off a going 2-3, including two victories over Class 6A schools, at the Berkner Volleyball Tournament over the weekend.

Henderson scored 2-0 wins over Garland Naaman Forest 25-21, 25-20 (Cora Jimerson 11 assists, 4 digs; Heather Craig 6 kills, 11 digs) and Arlington Bowie 25-20, 25-19 (Jimerson 1 assists; Craig 6 kills, 6 digs; Grace Colley, 9 digs, 2 aces).

Henderson fell to West Mesquite 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-20). Leaders were Jimerson (23 assists, 9 digs), Craig (12 kills, 20 digs, 5 aces) and Addison Northcutt (7 kills, 11 digs). Henderson lost to 2-0 to Carrollton Creekview (25-11, 25-10) and Duncanville (25-14, 25-12). Jimerson (11 assists, 3 digs) and Craig (5 kills, 13 digs) led the Henderson against Creekview, while Craig (7 kills, 6 digs) and Colley (8 digs) led the squad against Duncanville.

Tyler Grace 3, Troup 0

The Grace Lady Cougars defeated Troup 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-14).

In a balanced attack, Madi Rutherford led all hitters with six kills for Grace, followed by Rebekah Sutton and Avery Nutt with five each. Sophia Ramirez, Merritt Dial and Gabi Manziel added three kills apiece. Anna Gates paced the defense with four aces and 12 digs. Anna Olson added eight digs and an ace.

Leaders for Troup (4-13) were Alyssa Adamic (12 digs, 5 kills), Avery Thibodeaux (9 digs, 3 aces), Hadley Derrick (5 kills, 1 dig), Josie Martin (2 digs), Macie Hampton (3 digs), Maryssa Gilliam (4 kills, 2 digs), Samantha Eastman (3 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig), Sarah Neel (5 assists, 1 dig) and Tara Wells (9 assists, 5 digs).

Grace next plays in the McKinney Christian Tournament of Champions this weekend.

The Grace JV also won 25-18, 25-16.

Whitehouse 3, Quitman 0

WHITEHOUSE — In match between East Texas powerhouses, Whitehouse scored a 3-0 win over Quitman on Tuesday.

Whitehouse won 25-17, 25-17, 25-19.

Some standouts for Whitehouse include: Briana Brown (16 kills, 13 digs); Aja Williams (8 kills); Ashlee Taylor (7 kills); Ryann Foster (26 assists, 11 digs) and Kate Idrogo with 11 digs and 3 blocks.

In sub-varsity results, the Whitehouse JV won 2-0 (26-24, 25-15) and WHS 9A defeated Quitman JV 28-26, 25-19. The Quitman Frosh won over WHS 9B 2-1 (25-7, 11-25, 25-18).

Whitehouse (7-4) will compete in the Tyler ISD Tournament beginning Thursday. The Ladycats will play at Three Lakes Middle School against Henderson (1 p.m.), Mineola (2 p.m.) and Little Elm (4 p.m.).

Quitman plays at Tyler Lee High School on Thursday against Willis (1 p.m.), Tyler Lee (3 p.m.) and Van (5 p.m.).

Lindale 3, Gilmer 0

LINDALE — The Lindale Lady Eagles swept past Gilmer, 25-12, 25-21, 25-15, on Tuesday.

Lindale will take part in the Tyler Invitational Tournament beginning on Thursday. The Lady Eagles will compete at Boulter Middle School against Bishop Gorman (noon), Nacogdoches Central Heights (3 p.m.) and Spring Hill (4 p.m.).

Delaney Wilson had five kills, Haylee Jordan four kills and Reese Couture and Jaici Pilcher three kills apiece in the loss for Gilmer.

Lele Morton led the Lady Buckeyes with 12 digs. Jordan added five digs, and Wilson and Jordan recorded four blocks apiece.

Bullard 3, Van 0

BULLARD — The Bullard Lady Panthers played their first home match of the season, downing Van 3-0 on Tuesday.

Bullard won 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

Leaders for Bullard (9-1) were Sara McKeethan (19 kills, 12 digs, 2 aces), Keili Richmond (11 kills, 9 digs, 2 aces), Libby Eitel (18 assists), Kylie McKeethan (12 assists, 4 digs), Korleigh duBose (6 digs) and Claire Cannon (7 digs).

Both the Bullard JV (25-18, 26-24) and Frosh (25-21, 25-5).

Bullard will play in the Tyler Invitational beginning Thursday at Tyler Lee High School against Lufkin (1 p.m.), Joshua (3 p.m.) and Pleasant Grove (5 p.m.).

Mineola 3, Cross Roads 1

CROSS ROADS — The Mineola Lady Jackets defeated the Cross Roads Ladycats 3-1 on Tuesday in a volleyball match.
Mineola won 25-23, 25-14, 18-25, 25-21.
Leaders for Mineola were Brittany Pickle (10 kills, 9 digs, 4 aces), Sabria Dean (8 kills, 4 blocks, 3 aces), Valarie Garcia (5 kills, 1 block), Mylee Fischer (1 block, 24 assists), Meghan Brewington (20 digs), Cyndi Butler (18 digs, 4 aces) and Tahjae Black (3 aces).
The Mineola JV White won 2-0 with the JV Orange winning 2-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-7).
Mineola will take part in the Tyler ISD Invitational beginning on Thursday.  Mineola (6-4) will play at Three Lakes Middle on Thursday, facing Little Elm (noon), Whitehouse (2 p.m.) and Henderson (5 p.m.).

Sabine 3, Kilgore 0

LIBERTY CITY Mikinzi Cantrell (11) and Sam Bell (10) combined for 21 kills, leading the Sabine Lady Cardinals to a 25-18, 25-6, 25-16 sweep of Kilgore.

Aubree McCann added eight kills, Ryanne Stuart three and Maddie Furh two. Furrh finished with five aces, Bell and McCann four apiece and Caitlin Bates two, while McCann added two blocks. Bell led with 12 digs. Sierrah Richter added nine, Ally Gresham six, McCann five and Cantrell and Furh two apiece. Richter set it all up with 31 assists.

Big Sandy 3, Alba-Golden 0

BIG SANDY Airikah Pippins ripped 20 kills, Lizzie Worded handed out 27 assists and the Big Sandy Lady Wildcats swpet to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-15 win over Alba-Golden.

Pippins added seven digs and two blocks, Worden nine digs and two kills, Chyler Ponder five kills and 11 digs, Gracie Jenison five kills, Jakayla Johnson five digs, Tori Hill three kills and Peyton Adams three digs.

Jenison (12-12) and Johnson (10-10) were both perfect on their serve attempts.

Hawkins 3, Carlisle 1

PRICE — The Hawkins Lady Hawks scored a 3-1 win over the Carlisle Lady Indians on Tuesday in a volleyball match.

Hawkins won 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-11.

Leading the way for the Lady Hawks were Logan Jaco (18 kills, 3 blocks), Makena Warren (7 kills), Lynli Dacus (6 kills, 8 assists, 3 digs),  Morgan Jaco (8 blocks), Alyssa Eddington (23 assists, 4 digs), Jordyn Warren (5 digs), Victoria Miller (4 digs), and Tenley Conde (3 digs) and Maraina Clark (3 digs).

Carlisle won the JV game 2-0 (25-20, 25-1).

Hawkins is scheduled to play Sabine in Liberty City on Friday. The varsity teams are scheduled to playl at 4:30 p.m., followed by the JV.

Leverett's Chapel 3, Longview Trinity 0

LONGVIEW — The Leverett's Chapel Lady Lions defeated the Longview Trinity School of Texas Lady Titans 3-0 on Tuesday.

The Lady Lions won 25-23, 25-20, 25-18.

Standouts for LC were Jillian Shaw )13 kills, 3 blocks, 12 digs, 3 aces), Lexus Haley (2 kills, 1 block, 3 digs, 18 assists, 2 aces), Ashilia Smith (5 kills, 1 block, 1 dig), Michelle Jamaica (2 kills, 22 digs, 2 assists, 2 aces) and Katie Hughes with 13 digs, 1 assist, 5 aces).

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Tyler to take on Cumberland Academy.

Rains takes third

WILLS POINT — The Rains LadyCats placed third in the Wills Point Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

Rains opened bracket play with a 2-0 win over Tatum (25-18, 25-14). wLeaders for the Emory school were: Harley Kreck (12 kills, 1 ace, 14 digs), Leo Terry (4 kills, 11 digs), Katy Traylor (3 kills), Presley McAree (2 aces), Krislynn McGinty (1 ace), Kaitlyn Brock (10 assists) and Jasmine Mott (11 assists).

In the semifinals, Commerce stopped Rains 2-0 (25-18, 25-15). Leaders for Rains were Kreck (8 kills, 4 aces, 12 digs, 1 block), Terry (9 digs, 1 block), Traylor (4 blocks), Brock (5 digs, 4 assists) and Mott (5 assists).

Rains defeated host Wills Point for third place, 2-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-13). Leaders for the LadyCats were: Kreck (19 kills, 27 digs), Terry (7 kills, 8 digs)), Skyler Monroe (17 digs), Traylor (3 blocks) and Emily Green (3 blocks).

The LadyCats (4-3) are scheduled to play at Crandall on Tuesday. The match is set for 5 p.m.
