Henderson splits with Longview, Beckville

HENDERSON — The Henderson Lady Lions split matches on their home court on Tuesday — defeating Longview 3-1 and falling to Beckville 3-0.

Against Longview, Henderson won 25-10, 19-25, 26-24 and 25-16.

Lady Lions standouts were Cora Jimerson (32 assists, 4 aces), Analena Tavo (15 kills), Heather Craig (14 kills, 7 digs) and Addison Northcutt (4 kills, 5 aces, 2 blocks).

Against Beckville, the Lady Lions lost 25-18, 27-25 and 25-12.

Leading the way for Henderson were Jimerson (23 assists, 6 digs), Craig (10 kills, 5 digs) and Tavo (8 kills, 12 digs).

Henderson (4-4) competes in the Richardson Berkner Tournament this weekend.

Mineola sweeps pair

MINEOLA — The Mineola Lady ‘Jackets claimed wins over Gladewater and Quinlan Ford on Tuesday in volleyball.

Mineola defeated Gladewater 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-11).

Lady ‘Jacket leaders were Brittany Pickle (11 kills), Sabria Dean (5 kills, 2 blocks), Tahjae Black (5 kills, 2 blocks), Meghan Brewington (4 digs), Tiara Stephens (2 digs) and Mylee Fischer (26 assists).

Mineola swept Quinlan Ford 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-10).

Lady ‘Jacket standouts were Pickle (6 kills, 4 aces), Dean (12 kills, 2 blocks), Brewington (6 digs, 2 aces), Stephens (2 digs), Fischer (2 blocks, 23 assists, 2 aces) and Cyndi Butler (7 digs).

The JV Orange defeated both Gladewater and Quinlan Ford, 2-0. The JV White fell to Quinlan Ford, 2-0.

Mineola (5-3) plays at Cross Roads at 4 p.m. Aug. 20.

Rains 3, Sunnyvale 2

SUNNYVALE — Harley Kreck had 20 kills, three blocks, seven aces and 20 digs as Rains took a five-set win over Sunnyvale (25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10) on Tuesday.

Storey Smith had six kills, and Katy Traylor had five kills. Traylor had six blocks, and Emily Green had two blocks.

Presley McAree and Leo Terry had two aces each. Kaityln Brock had 17 assists, and Terry had 14 assists.

Terry had 16 digs, McAree 12 digs and Krislynn McGinty nine digs.
