ATHENS — The Athens Hornets will have two football players participating in All-American Games on Saturday, head football coach Paul Essary said.
Kendall Sanders will play in the U.S. Army All-American Game at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The game is scheduled for noon and will be broadcast by NBC. Sanders, who is committed to Texas, will play defensive back for the West.
Joe Hale will participate in Max Emfinger’s Eighth Annual All-American Bowl Game Classic in Baton Rouge, La., on the campus of Southern University. Game time will be 7 p.m. Hale will be playing on the offensive line.
Other East Texans in the U.S. Army game are Texas High offensive lineman John Michael Moore (Oklahoma), Carthage defensive back Edward Pope (TCU) and Crockett wide receiver Dominique Wheeler (Texas Tech).
